Good, when it works...
I originally used this product with SLATE4 using my own MIDI map. It rocks when it works. I recommend it if you’re just starting, but if you have huge amount of song collection, you will need to think twice as re-cueing songs will take a toll on you. Plus, before you switch or use this as your “alternative system”, make sure that you have a fully compatible MIDI controller, otherwise you are not getting the best out of it.
GOOD:
- Price
- Match recommendation
- Soundcard adjustment (either via PC, MAC or controller)
- FX bundle
- Video support
- Apple & Spotify integration
BAD:
- One time, I had a problem with SYNC function. Example, D1 has 120 and D2 has 64. Instead of 120 going 128, it always go down to 64, which is really bad. I have ticket opened for this, but no solution yet (for almost 6months?).
- DDJ SX2 native support is “half-baked”. The FX buttons aren’t really mapped to how they should work. Algoriddim only supports wet/dry functionality for the FX knobs, and that you cannot use them for decks 3 & 4. Crossfader setting, headphone volume, etc are also known not to work.
- Cue point (based on ID3 tags) is not supported
