djay Pro App Reviews

Keeps Getting Better. Almost There...

First off, the app is awesome. (Certainly worth buying for anyone on the fence) Keep up the good work! Digging the waveform and beatgrid improvements. Adding the ability to edit the BPM is great. Would be even better if you could edit the Key Signature. (Unfortunately the key detection is still inaccurate about 30% of the time, and it creates a headache when trying to mix in key.) Being able to add a track to Spotify playlists (which act as crates) is really helpful…Again, would be even better if you could do the same with iTunes. Also being able to add comments to your track right in the app would be huge. Overall, Djay Pro has been an excellent experience and I highly reccomend it. Looking forward to upcoming versions!

Fatal Flaw-Buyer Beware-doesn’t play spotify offline

Full disclosure: One of the main reasons I choose to purchase this software was because of it’s Spotify interface. I have used Spotify for years now and one of the best features is the available offline option for while you are on the go. Djay Pro does NOT cache the offline songs you will have to rely soley on iTunes if playing away from Wifi. Buyers beware of this flaw before paying the $50 for the app. If you are playing outdoors or in clubs with thick walls and no cell reception (few clubs have wifi) you may want to invest in another product. I looked through all the reviews and seller information before purchasing and no one mentioned anything about this. I figured make a playiist (like always) on Spotify make it available offline and your good to go, WRONG! I hope this helps you with your decision.

Good, when it works...

I originally used this product with SLATE4 using my own MIDI map. It rocks when it works. I recommend it if you’re just starting, but if you have huge amount of song collection, you will need to think twice as re-cueing songs will take a toll on you. Plus, before you switch or use this as your “alternative system”, make sure that you have a fully compatible MIDI controller, otherwise you are not getting the best out of it. GOOD: - Price - Match recommendation - Soundcard adjustment (either via PC, MAC or controller) - FX bundle - Video support - Apple & Spotify integration BAD: - One time, I had a problem with SYNC function. Example, D1 has 120 and D2 has 64. Instead of 120 going 128, it always go down to 64, which is really bad. I have ticket opened for this, but no solution yet (for almost 6months?). - DDJ SX2 native support is “half-baked”. The FX buttons aren’t really mapped to how they should work. Algoriddim only supports wet/dry functionality for the FX knobs, and that you cannot use them for decks 3 & 4. Crossfader setting, headphone volume, etc are also known not to work. - Cue point (based on ID3 tags) is not supported

OK….WHY DID I TAKE SO LONG TO GET THIS UPDATE???

I’ve been loyal to Algoriddim! I’ve been along for the ride since the beginning and have always upgraded. I hesitated this time because I honestly figured I didn’t need to upgrade. The older applications were just as awesome. But (sighs) I’ve paid the $49 and now I am glad I did! So many more toys to play with this go around. Good work!

Good, Not Great

I like the Spotify integration, it makes it easy to play what people want to hear hassle free. I would like to see something along the lines of what Serato offeres with the Bar counter and remix decks. The sampler would be great if it were customizeable also. It would also be a big help if you could drag the song list to the size you wanted. In 4 deck mode you loose a lot of the on screen functionality (when you arent using a controller) because the size of the song list is so tall on the screen. Outside of those minor flaws, it’s the most bang for your buck and that is a big plus. I am sure somewhere down the road this will be one of the best competing DJ software you can buy. I hope the developers listen to all of these reviews and take something that is good, and make it great!

Does Not Work With Apple Music

Warning, If you plan on using Apple Music as your primary music source you cannot use this application, its a phenomenal software but it can only work with Spotify streaming service and music that is directly on your harddrvie….Bummer!

apple music

is there any way i can have my apple music come up as well as what i have downloaded in itunes since i don’t use spotify

Been using for years

I love this software, I’ve been using it for years and have all of Algoriddim’s products including DJ Remote, which was discontinued and is not compatible with DJ Pro. I wish that they would bring it back as it makes DJing so much easier and allows me to actually do things like go to the bathroom instead of using a catheter for every gig that I do. All and all I like the program, it has been very reliable and made doing events very simplistic with options to satisfy even advanced DJs. Keep the updates coming and maybe bring back the remote app. Thanks!

ABOUT TIME!!

This version seems to tighten the proverbial screws on this program. The spotify bugs and random glitches during playback, prevented this from being a go to DJ program for a professional. Looks like Algoriddim is back on track. The interface is better than any other DJ program out there. Im glad i can finally give this 5 stars with this update

Great but Crashes

I have have been using DJAY software for a long time. The software is great. It connects easily to my controller and is very user friendly. I have recommended it to many people to purchase. HOWEVER, since I have “Upgraded” to DJAY Pro, I have had it crash randomly on me multiple times in the middle of paid sets. I have not been able to pinpoint a trigger but have sent all of the crash reports to the company. I hope they have it figured out soon. Unfortunately, I find myself looking around for a new DJ program that I can rely on.

Good, but needs some polishing

I am a huge fan of the Algoriddim software for Apple products. I have djay Pro on my Mac and djay2 on my iphone and I use them regularly when I’m alone and in the comapany of others. This update managed to get most of the hang-ups fixed that I didn’t like before, such as the new continuous FX scroll bar function that allows you view all of the effects like tonalizer, echo, boatman, warp, etc instead of having to search through each category of drop down menus. I, personally, don’t know how’d I’d use the new video tool live (don’t know the hookups I’d need to project the video feed from my mac), but It’s nice and free and I suppose I could record video if I really wanted to do that. My biggest qualm about this update is that I’m experiencing an issue with it’s compatability to the ddj wego2. The sample function won’t allow me to use my controller and hear the sample. I have not tried plugging my ddj wego2 into a speaker and seeing if the sample output will function that way, but those precious little noises aren’t coming through the main or precue in my headphones. I’m sure there may be other glitches that I haven’t come across yet. People at Algoriddim, I need you to dedicate some long hours to the djay Pro. I love it so far, but there’s still lots of ground to cover to make this sucker a monster.

So long PCDJ

FINALLY - I’ve been patiently waiting for a VJ/Karaoke app for Mac equavilant to PCDJ for Windows. I’ve always loved the djay pro app… and this just made it a ga-zillion times better! Only major bug I’ve found is that I can’t remove a folder from the “MY MAC” function - I can only add. However, I’m sure that will get fixed soon.

Great but bugs

I love this software and it works great for my DDJ WeGo 2. However, on my laptop my music library does not show up. On my iMac it works just great.

Much Better After 1.1 Update, But Still No Offline Spotify Support

I installed the most recent update, as of this writing version 1.1, and want to give many thanks to the Algoriddim team for implementing the mapping for the DENON DN-MC6000. The lights give excellent feedback: for example, I like how the play/pause button blinks near the end of the song. At a friends birthday party, I played for 8.5 hours straight without any crashes or other strange behavior. DJay Pro was used with the DENON DN-MC6000, only on two-turntable mode streaming Spotify. I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) running OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.3 with 16GB RAM. At this point, I have not yet tried any of the other music library possibilities or other new features, but so far, I have not experienced any problems crashing. I would give this program 5 stars if it supported OFFLINE Spotify playlists! Hopefully the old saying applies here: Good things come to those who wait. Other than that, I’m very happy with the update.

Issue with syncing iTunes

I just upgraded, and DJay Pro 1.1 will not sync with my iTunes library. I hope this issue gets solved sooner than later. I hev never had an issue with any of their products until this upgrade.

Don’t bother to buy if you want to record mixing Spotify music

Just wasted 50 bucks on something that markets usability with Spotify…and yet, you cannot record any mixes using Spotify music. Ummm, what a joke. Very disappointed to say the least. Spotify users, unless you plan to go out and re-purchase all your songs on iTunes, don’t waste your time or money if you were hoping to record any of your mixes.

A Good Upgrade But Missing 1 Item Still!

This was a very good upgrade, fixing many issues in software. I like some of the new features but at thsi point I ahve no need/use for the video interface and like others have mentioned what connections to external monitors would show the videos while running the turntable screen on the laptop. Probably too much to cart around to every event i DJ/Emcee. My one beef/complaint/quandry is why did you remove the remote app support? This still baffles me because I used this feature/funtion at every event. It is agreat way to check levels as I walt the event space, changing songs, trying different EQ settings. I also liked using this to make asong request change for guests in the spot. Lets get the remore function back into djay pro.

Love this app but this version came dead on arrival.

Where can I start, the new version crashes constantly and corrupts the drive which is forcing a boot repair. Please release the older version, which I love, until this new version passes some quality testing. Update: The latest patch is well worth installing. If you have a large amount of music in iTunes, give this program time to go through the entire library. It will analyse your music for bpm and key, which could take a while, but the result is well worth it. If you ask, it will suggest other songs in your library with similar bpm and key - nice. Lots of new features which I’m still discovering, This version had a rocky start but it appears to be much more stable and on the right track now. Always was a great app, and is quickly returning to that staus with lots of new features.

New version doesn’t work

Version 1.1.1 of the application will not open. Version 1.1 worked great, and the Spotify integration was priceless, but this new version doesn’t even work. Don’t update until the fix comes out. Immediately after opening, it goes to Not Responding, and never opens.

Update 1.1.1 Not good at all

1st if you play a song in iTunes mode that song can not be played when in Spotify mode and vice versa. Many of my iTunes Library songs now have an error message that Djay Pro can’t read or find them. The music started dragging real slow after about 2hrs. of continuous playing. The good thing was I was able to play everything everyone asked for on Spotify , , , However, on one song (Prince - Kiss) one second pauses started occuring throughout the song. I had to shut the program down and reboot everything. A total of 5 mins. lost. , , , , Good thing I had back-up ready to go while I fixed the problems with Djay Pro 1.1.1 newest update. I wished that all songs could be played in both iTunes mode as well as Spotify mode without having to switch back and forth between the two modes. They should have came out as a Beta system before they started charging people for a DJ Program that has too many issues. Beta means with problems expected. Pro means issues should be minimal and that is not the case here. Go Beta for free 1st and get rid of everyone’s issue before you decide to sell a Pro version.
