djay Pro App Reviews

Do Not Waste Your Time On This

Garbage is what this software is. This software was never made with turntablists in mind. Don’t try scratching, dont try mixing, or anything. This software should not be purchased. I wasted my time and money on purchasing this. They put way too much hype in this and its all about nothing.

Still needs work

Very clean interface. Been using your products for a while. I’m a professional Dj. I use Serato all the time. There are things that need improvement like the que points… They just need to be laid out better. Video playback is choppy. Dropping frames. Some glitches when loading tracks. Love the spotify intergration.. Only reason I did take the plunge on this. Keep up the good work. Maybe one day I’ll use it a real gig. would be nice if you could import Serato playlists. Till then keep at it. You still got some improvement to do.

NO!!!

I’ve been using this for probably a year now. And its been great until the “newer and better” version came… Super laggy, Full of bugs, Crashes half the time… it was working perfectly fine until the new version was a forced update… now i consider this a pricy waste of money… ATTENTION, WAIT FOR IT TO BE UPDATED BEFORE YOU BUY THIS VERSION…… but like seriously, wait until update, or your gonna want to throw your mac acroos the room and break it against the wall thank you and have a nice day :(

NO RECORD USING SPOTIFY

I haven’t had the same issues as others regarding crashes or bugs. However, if you are one that utilizes the “record" functionality in the normal version you’ll want to note that recording is not supported when mixing Spotify songs (only with iTunes songs). I’m very disappointed to discover this after having paid $50. If recording from Spotify tracks is a primary motivator in purchasing Djay pro, I’d suggest you put that money toward iTunes music or find alternative means.

djay saved my life!

I’ve been using Serato for a few years now, but last week it wasn’t working right and their tech support, well... didn’t support me in time for a gig. I downloaded djay Pro, and it was spot on! After a 4-hour show last night, no issues at all (I had none of the issues others have reported in their reviews). The app opened right up, it immediately recognized my Pioneer controller, no lag, great mixing, no complaints. djay Pro saved my life!

Dj Yoshi

I’m really upset I been wanting this software for a while , now that I have it it keeps crashing. I use to be such a fan of this software but it really does break my heart that I spent 50 bucks on something that doesn’t work. : ) Please make this softwae better !!!

Far too unreliable for practical use

Excellent idea. Exactly what I was looking for. I bought it to be used for a wedding I DJ’d, very excited. Unfortunately, the app stutters, pausing music without any notice or recourse. I made sure to save Spotify music so it could be accessed offline, but it still had issues. One song into the gig, I had to abandon the software altogether. If you are actually a paid DJ, this app is simply too unreliable to trust. Please update ASAP! It’s a great concept.

Redemption...

I wrote the first review on this app, and it was pretty harsh. It was brand new, I had a huge 3 day event in front of hundreds of people, and it did not preform well for me at all. Lately however, it has been doing much better. It DOES have its quirks and bugs from time to time, yet overall much more stable. Good job Algoriddm. I have been using this app for years, and will continue to do so.

Worth it!

This is one of the greatest and affordable mixing app I’ve ever used. Amazing app and I highly recommend.

Scary Application

This application will freeze in the middle of the Bride n Groom’s first dance - if you try to search at the same time. It is scary! I am almost certain they ported over the DJpro iOS version for Mac users to save development cost. That means instead of a PRO DJ App - it is a play toy designed for a single CPU not multi-core and if you try to do more than one thing at a time - it freaks… very bad memory management design. Apple is a Professional Company known for things that “JUST WORK”…this app is not in this category - it is guaranteed to NOT WORK at critical points for Pro Users. We have waited and waited for Algoridden to get their act together for the Pro User. Seems whomever they have writing these great reviews has not pushed this App in Pro use…. I have waited patiently for more than a year and this app is only for non-professional hobby use… It needs a ground up redesign that utilizes the multi-core architechture of Mac Pro Laptops and also has proper RAM and memory management. Seems it currently just orted over the code from it’s single core iOS app. Sad very Sad indeed…. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL...

offline spotify playlist support...

i’ve always enjoyed the djay software and have owned every version so far… great work! curious if it’s possible to add offline spotify playlist support? as a spotify subscriber i can easily save and access my playlist when offline through the spotify app, but not through djay. is there an underlying reason for this? it would be top notch to be able to play offline playlists via djay and its kickass features, rather than being limited to just spotify. overall great app!

Works well, Had an enjoyable experience so far. Hoping for offline Spotify in future

I have been using this app for about a week. I have connected it to a DDJ-SB. For beginning djing it works well. I use Spotify Premium with it so I can have access to literally millions of tracks. Overall I’ve had a good experience. I have not yet had it crash. Sometimes I need to restart the app to get it to connect to Spotify but that’s more likely my own issue. I haven’t used the latest update yet, but it’s been working well. The only grevience I’ve had is that it does not support Spotify offline. This is not the applications fault. The user agreement of Spotify does not allow third parties to cache songs for offline play. I have created a posting on Spotify’s community page and asked them to support a Spotify Pro type application which allows offline play for third party applications such as djay Pro. If interested search the Spotify Community forum for "Create new subscription that allows offline DJ playback, recording, and sampling through DJ apps”. I would love to see the offline Spotify support. It would make this the ultimate DJ tool.

Support has gone fishing

I will gladly bump up a star as soon as the developers actually look at the questions and requests on the forums and incorporate more of them in the FAQ. Can you blame them? This is such a popular app, they are probably collecting their revenue from a tropical island, I know I would. But unlike a mobile app, there are features that don’t explain themselves (examples: at least 4 different behaviors for jump, slice, and loop. excluding chopping effects, what are their varying behaviors?. There is no interface indicator for the “selected” deck, as far as I can tell, although MIDI controller mappings permit you to assign parameters to it. What is the significance of “Grid" size, and how, without any visual or audible feedback would I even know if I changed it? And so on...)). And because the noisiest participants will eagerly reply without actually contributing further information, leaving it to the masses to answer eachother’s questions has failed. If it wasn’t my observation, I wouldn’t be writing this review as feedback. I’d be reading a manual or working it out with support.

Missing one thing...

Ever since this program was available, I’ve had it. There have been some really bad updates, but bugs were sqaushed and patch updates were quick to follow. Algorddim has been kinda meh when it comes to community support. But they are present nonetheless. The ONLY thing this program needs to complete the cake with icing, is .zip file capabilities. Im a Karaoke DJ and I use MP3+G files to run my shows. I love Djay Pro, and I use it when DJing wedding and private parties. I would love to start using it for my karaoke shows as well. .ZIP files Algoriddim, make it happen!

Missing Key Features

Samples are very weak (pretty much a useless feature compared to other programs) and the inability to use saved Spotify Songs to your computer is unfavorable. If youre doing a live set, you cant always depend on quality wifi. Other than that, its a pretty good dj program.

Spotify

Works great but it’d be better if you could save your spotify playlists to use them when you don’t have wifi.

Will this app have Apple Music support?

I love this app. I use it when hanging out with friends so I can show them neat tricks. I would love to see Apple Music support. I know that it would be possible because there already is Spotify support. This would help me with my DJ skills because then I can make playlists without having to own the music.

Spotify integration is great, waveform analysis sub par

I’ve been using Traktor for years but I bought djay Pro and a Pioneer wego 3 because I wanted to try DJing from Spotify. The Spotify integration is awesome but the waveform analysis and customization needs work. Djay Pro frequently assigns the first beat to the wrong place and I have to manually correct it. Worse, it’s not easy to move the first beat to another beat. You have to set the beatgrid somewhere that is not a downbeat and then set it at the downbeat you wanted once the beatgrid is moved off a downbeat. And if you like to use the sync button, it only syncs to where the waveform thinks the first beat of a measure is, instead of the nearest beatgrid marker. This was customizable in settings for Traktor. With some improvements, this software would be good enough for me to use comfortably.

Great tool forDjs, needs some fixes

First, let me just say, WOW! Spotify integration and HID for CDJ2000s was a brilliant idea. I had a gig last night that was well outside of my musical comfort zone, and I needed a lot of new music fast. I bought djay pro to run with my CDJ2000nxs system, and it saved me so much time and effort that would have been spent finding and downloading music. It was WELL worth the asking price. If a few things were fixed I would give this 6/5. Some issues I ran in to last night were: - No waveform detail view when playing from spotify playlists (overview was there) - Tracks would play as soon as I loaded them - Vinyl mode felt sluggish, and it was hard to perform fast scratches and turntable tricks - Tempo slider would not respond right away, I would have to toggle it before it would respond Overall I think this is a great product, spotify and HID will give djay pro a MASSIVE presence in the mobile DJ market. If the HID mode was improved I would have gladly paid even more for this. Thanks!

Apple Music

This will get 5 star when i can use Apple music. Can we get that in?!!
